The finalists
The last installment of the Twilight series, Breaking Dawn, was released for sale at midnight, August 2. So of course, we had to have a party, starting at at Beagle Books. While we waited for midnight, we celebrated with a wedding costume contest and a wedding cake. (Yes, the wedding theme is related to the book). We offered a 10% discount on Breaking Dawn to eveyone who signed up to donate blood in the August 19-21 Park Rapids blood drive. You had to be 17 years old to donate blood, so those under 17 had to literally ask family members for blood.

Tony Bender signed his book,
IF EVERY MONTH WERE JUNE
After seeing the woman of his dreams as a June model on the tool calendar in his mechanic’s garage, Hooter Pridley becomes determined to find her. Of course, finding love is never easy. Award-winning humorist Tony Bender has created a hilarious cast of characters who educate Hooter along the way about the things that are truly valuable in life. Film rights to novel were optioned even before the release of the book, a rarity in the industry. Tony Bender has published three collections of his newspaper columns and is president of the Newspaper Association. He lives near Ashley, North Dakota. |

Most of all, thank you to the Park Rapids community for coming to the pie auction and raising $1,100 for the library! We more than doubled the money we raised last year!
